David Banks | An Interview with Adnan Khalid

I have yet to see another film actor with such respect and regard for fans and critics. David Banks won me over with his acting in CUT! and made me an ardent admirer during his correspondence with me. He reinstated my belief in my work as a film reviewer and interviewer. I have never had more fun working on an interview.

David Banks

1. Hello, you were outstanding in CUT, can you guide us through your early life and eventual breakthrough in Hollywood.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I have always had a certain fascination with the business and everything around it. I grew up living in a house surrounded with right brainers ha ha.

My parents were both heavily involved with music and entertainment. As a young child I can remember my mom bouncing me on her knee to Fleetwood Mac albums.

2. In your journey so far what has been the most difficult time for you regarding your career in Hollywood? What, in your opinion, is/will be your biggest break in Hollywood?
David Banks

I think the most difficult thing for any of us is the waiting game. Waiting for the next job, because the last one you shot didn't go as great as you thought, or your performance didn't  go exactly how you had hoped.

My biggest break will most likely be the day I no longer question my performance. Will that ever happen? I dont know (:

3. Does a casting couch exist in Hollywood?

Ahhhhh I have heard of such a thing. I think we should all be careful where we lay down and with whom. Whether its a casting couch or a even something that appears like a comfortable cozy couch from the outside.

4. Which up coming projects excite you, please give us an elaborate detail of each one you want to discuss?

The projects that excite me are the ones where I can really get out of my comfort zone, and challenge myself. CUT! was a big one for me and being able to walk that deep dark line was very rewarding in the end.
In the future I would ultimately love to go even further and shake things up even more.

David Banks Cut

For me if anyone can watch what I have done and say "wow that guy must really have something wrong with him" I think I have done my job.

5. On what do you spend the most: clothes, accessories, perfumes, cars or anything else?

I would say I spend the most on Therapy! Asking the question......Did I make the right career choice??

I'm kidding. It would definitely be food. I am a food fanatic and love trying new restaurants.

6. Where do you think you will be after 25 years?

I will definitely be doing the same thing I am doing now. I don't have a back up plan and believe if you are truly passionate about what you do you shouldn't have one.

7. Describe yourself in three words?
Driven, Difficult, Obsessed....Can I have 4? Can I say DIFFICULT again??? (:

David Banks

8. Who, in your opinion, are the most overrated actor and actress in the industry?

Well if anyone is overrated I think they are doing something right. If we are hearing about them more than we would like they are doing exactly what they should be doing. I heard an amazing quote a while ago. the only bad press and exposure is an obituary.

9. What is your dream role/project?

To work side by side with Ray Liota - Maybe share a few tears and a beer.

10. What do you enjoy more, Stand up or acting?

I enjoy acting much more. Stand up is absolutely terrifying!

11. Do you believe in flaunting it if you have it?

I think we should do our best work and if its good enough other people will flaunt it for you.

13. What's the best compliment you have ever received?

Well I work and think a bit different than most people. So the best compliment I can hear is when someone tells me I should try something else career wise. I have always been the type of guy who works best when someone tells me I cant do something. I will spend my entire life trying to prove them wrong.

David Banks
14. What's the meanest thing or harshest criticism you have ever heard about yourself?

Well they say, if an actor ever wants to ruin his or her day Google yourself. There are some pretty harsh things to be said about anyone who has taken big chances with a character or role. You can never please everyone.

I will never forget doing one of my first commercials and I had to take a lollipop away from a baby who starts crying, and the day it aired there were dozens of angry moms posting comments about how cruel I was and how mean that was for the baby who will be effected by this for years to come. HA HA You never know what will be said.

15. Who would you want to kiss on screen if you could choose anyone?

Penelope Cruz - Because I'm sure if I did it wrong she would slap me with everything she had!

16. Your message to the world and your fans?

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE AND NEVER STOP! THANK GOD EACH AND EVERY DAY YOU ARE HERE TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE MOST!

17. A few words about thefilmguide.net

Allowing anyone in the business to share their experiences and perhaps touch someone anywhere in the world is an absolutely amazing thing. THE FILM GUIDE is an incredible platform for that!

David Banks

I just finished reading your interview with Natalie Burn and her talking about how to control the falls after the win was brilliant. There is so much content out there, but when you read something that touches you there is nothing better. Our moods can change as fast as the weather out here in California. Why not read something that will motivate you and uplift you?

Thanks so much for your time

Julia 2014 Film Review

Julia (2014) on IMDb

Julia’s journey of seeking revenge for her brutal rape.
Director: Matthew A. Brown
Running time: 95 minutes
Screenplay: Matthew A. Brown
Music composed by: Frank Hall
Cast: Ashley C. Williams, TahynaTozzi, Jack Noseworthy, Joel de la Fuente, Cary Woodworth

The film Julia 2014 revolves around a girl who is brutally raped and then seeks revenge by practicing an unacceptable form of therapy to restore herself. Ashley C. Williams plays Julia beautifully. She is a nurse. She is raped by her date and his friends after being drugged. Dumped somewhere by the water for the tides to take her, she still manages to get back to her home. The rape results in depression and drinking on a daily basis at a local bar.

At the bar, Julia overhears a discussion about some new empowered therapy for rape victims. She then falls prey to this unacceptable therapy conducted by Dr. Sgundud, played by Jack Noseworthy. The therapy is based on some terms and conditions. One of the main terms that Dr, Sgundud put forth her is that she is not allowed to take revenge from the people who raped her. She seeks her revenge against men by acts of violence upon random victims.

Julia is a bold and powerful movie. Ashley C.William’s performance is the film’s strongest point. Phenomenal throughout the movie, Ashley did justice to her part. Overall the movie is powerful and raises questions about the rape culture. Julia is a very loud movie with very little dialogues. The movie is visually arresting, unique and worth a watch.

Julia 2014 Film Rating: 6/10
