Queen (2014) Movie Review and Trailer
An Indian girl’s journey of self-discovery when her wedding is cancelled.
Initial release: March 7, 2014 (India)
Director: VikasBahl
Music composed by: Amit Trivedi
Cast: KanganaRanaut, Lisa Haydon, Raj Kumar Yadav, Mish Boyko, Marco Canadea.
Queen is a story of a young Indian girl, who is engaged to a typical Indian guy. The girl is devastated when her fiancé calls of their wedding. But she decides to take the honeymoon trip to Europe alone. The story is about her journey of Europe and how she discovers herself and overcomes her fears and phobias.
KanganaRanaut plays Rani in the movie. She is an under confident, shy eastern girl. Her fiancé calls off the wedding two days before it is supposed to happen. Rani is devastated and desolated. She then decides to take the pre booked honeymoon trip all by herself. In Paris, she makes a new friend, Vijayalakshmi, who works at the same hotel where Rani is staying. Together they enjoy. Vijayalakshmi shows her the brighter side of life and teaches her to be independent. Rani is a changed person when she comes back home.
On the whole, the movie is amazing. From ‘London thumakda’ to ‘Harjaiyan’, the music is fantabulous. The story is different and unique. It is a must watch. Because this movie teaches you how to take control of your life and be independent.

Rakesh Mahadkar, played by Riteish Deshmukh, is an unsuccessful man who is continuously nagged by his wife for being useless and poor. This makes him frustrated. He gets out this frustration by killing other women. Aisha happens to be one of them. He makes her beg for her life and the life of her kid but he kills Aisha while she was pregnant. The story is about Guru’s pursuit of her wife’s killer.
Overall, the movie is above average and totally unpredictable, which makes it stand out from other Bollywood movies. ‘Banjara’ being the most romantic number, the music is above average. I personally liked the movie because it’s emotional and unpredictable.

Happy Ending (2014) Movie Review and Trailer
Initial release: November 21, 2014 (India)
Directors: Krishna D.K., Raj Nidimoru.
Running time: 136 minutes
Music composed by: Sachin-Jigar, Jigar Saraiya, Sachin Sanghvi
Screenplay: Krishna D.K., Raj Nidimoru
Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz, Govinda, Kalki Koechlin, Preity Zinta.
Happy ending is a comedy of a romantic comedy(as Govinda uses the innuendo ‘Romedy’ in the movie). Saif Ali Khan plays Yudi, a young writer who is in search of an inspirational story for his new book. His last book had been released 5 ½ years back and he has had 8 ½ girlfriends within that time. While he is on the lookout for inspiration he falls in love with Aanchal who is a bestseller writer. She is the one who has replaced his contract.
Happy Ending (2014) Hindi Movie Official Trailer - Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz, Govinda & Kalki by Farah Rani
The story is funny, typical and a bit worked up. The male protagonist is just living in the moment, partying, flirting with girls and going in and out of relationships. He does not have a care in the world. But the crux in the story happens when his contract expires and he gets broke. Now he needs a comeback in the writing industry. For that he has to have a stirring story. In his search for inspiration, he meets Aanchal, the one replacing his contract. They spend some quality time together. Their love for freedom, adventure and excitement makes them fall in love with each other but then they part because Aanchal is just not ready for a next level relationship. Yudi then realizes that she is his true love and gathers the guts to pursue her. They both finally come to the conclusion that the cliché “Opposites attract” is not always true and a part of us is always in search of another part of our soul that makes us feel wholesome and complete. That’s the only depth in the movie by far. The rest is all play-and-party.
Overall, the acting is just okay. For the most part the story is predictable. Music is at par but nothing spectacular. If you are looking for some fun on the weekend over a bucket of popcorn, then it is a movie to watch. Entertaining and a good time-pass.

Ungli Movie Review and Trailer : Watch Dance Basanti Dance
A gang of friends decide to take justice into their own hands.
Director: Renzil D'Silva
Writers: Renzil D'Silva (story), Milap Zaveri (dialogue)
Stars: Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt
Ungli is an action drama, Bollywood movie that has a good cast and a different story line. In fact the story is quite like the not so successful C company, so after all it might not be entirely unique. The treatment however is very refreshing and the movie comes across as a sincere effort to convey a message.
Ungli | Official Trailer | Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Sanjay Dutt by Dharma Productions
Ranvir Ahooda, Kangana Ranaut and Imran Hashmi have played their roles very nicely and render great vale to the overall movie experience with their presence. It was great to see Sanjay Dutt as a part of this project as he is definitely a screen sparkler.
The songs are very well done and add beautifully to the story rather than being an obligation. Dance basanti with Shraddha Kapoor looking gorgeous is a very catchy number and adds spice to an otherwise preaching intensive script.
Dance Basanti Official Video Song From Ungli Movie by Bollywood Masti
Acting is above average, story is nice but predictable, music is at par but nothing spectacular. The movie on the whole however touches ones heart and has a likable feel to it so I really liked it personally. All in all a nice entertainer that is definitely worth time and money spent on it.

Haider (2014) Movie Review and Trailer
Movie: Haider (2014)
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Shraddha Kapoor
Genre: Tragedy, Drama, Thriller
Haider Trailer (Official) - Shahid Kapoor & Shraddha Kapoor - In Theaters October 2nd by Express News
Jack Nicholson commented on Heath Ledger's state of mind after playing the Joker by saying that a role like that often never leaves you and can haunt you for the rest of your life. Every time Shahid Kapoor came on screen during Haider I could not help but recall Jack Nicholson's point of view. I seemed throughout Haider that Shahid has completely given himself up in pursuit of Haider and even deep inside those intense eyes one finds no clue of Shahid Kapoor.
Haider is an adaptation of Hamlet, a tale of deceit, love and the uncomfortable gray shades of relationships that we hold scared. The epic line, "To be or not to be..." is substituted by a poem that goes something like, "Hum hain ya hum nahin" and that inclusive, the poetry that surrounds the story telling has been artistically chosen and filmed. To comment on the story is futile since Shakespeare seldom falters at narrating a story. The presentation, the setting, the cinematography and the script are all immaculate and deserve all the accolades. The movie is a masterpiece and should be remembered for times to come.
The acting is supreme. Every character is believable and every actor has lost himself in the role. Shahid Kapoor has outdone himself and gives shades of his father's intense acting talent bordering on magical. He mesmerizes and captures the viewer like a bulbul-e-bismil. Three cheers for him and hats off. Tabu and Kay Kay were exceptional as well and Shraddha Kapoor did justice to her part.
What I did not understand was why Haider wasn't showcased in Pakistan. If anything it was more anti Indian army than anti Pakistan.
All in all a great movie and a must watch!

Mardaani 2014 Movie Review and Trailer #RaniMukerji
Movie: Mardaani (2014)
Cast: Rani Mukerji, Tahir Raj Bhasin
Genre: Action, Drama
Mardaani (2014) is an action thriller based on events from a true story. It revolves around a female super cop who tries to track down and capture the leader of a human trafficking gang that specializes in prostitution.
Mardaani addresses issues of societal rot and inhuman abuse of women and how the women can face and fight back such issues. It focuses on the hidden power of a woman as an equal and sometimes more powerful and resilient force in society.
Rani Mukerji has given a very strong performance as a cop. She doesn't overdo the role and looks believable. Tahir Raj looks evil and very despicable as the negative lead. He shines through very strongly and doesn't let Rani over shadow him.
This movie is a must watch and should be seen by all women as an inspiration.

#Disney Khoobsurat (2014) Movie Review and Free Online Streaming
Movie: Disney Khoobsurat (2014)
Cast: Fawad Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Kiron Kher
Genre: Drama, Romance
Disney Khoobsurat is a remake of an old Bollywood flick by the same name that starred Rekha and Ashok Kumar. The 2014 version however stars the newest heartthrob of the subcontinent Fawad Khan alongside Sonam Kapoor and the duo create some Disney style magic on screen.
A true Disney Tale, Khoobsurat is set in a royal environment of the Rathor family with grand locations and palaces. The Royal family is very aptly cast and the characterization of both Fawad and Sonam is flawless.
Fawad Khan looks the part as the enigmatic prince charming who personifies class and stature and is also exceptionally good looking. Fawad's undeniable looks have once again made him capture the audience through the entire screen time that he was provided by the script. His role is very well played and written and he looks very very attractive and leaves a lasting impression with his soft yet powerful performance.
Sonam, I thought contrary to popular belief, has really produced the best performance of her career thus far. She brought out the craziness that Milli possesses in a way that was the demand of the script. Her role makes the distinction of Royalty and a misfit perfectly clear and also brings laughter and freshness to every scene that she is in. Apart from the performance itself, it must be said that casting Sonam for this role or writing such a role for Sonam was an amazing decision because Sonam herself is known for being erratic with what she says and does and most of what she says makes very little sense. I thought that Sonam Kapoor's performance in Khoobsurat was outstanding and could even be award worthy. A special note of appreciation should go to the dress designer for Sonam who contributed heavily to the character of Milli and brought the real Milli alive.
Kiron Kher as Manju was exceptional and hilarious in Khoobsurat and lifted the entire movie to a different level of comedy. The spontaneous dialog delivery from Kiron made this a role worth remembering for times to come.
Disney Khoobsurat is not only a sweet comedy but also a very well made movie with strong script and characters. It is an entertainer worth watching with the family.

Mary Kom 2014 Movie Review and Trailer
Mary Kom is a true story of a multiple time women's boxing champion from India. The movie is a journey through the tough life of a young girl who has no other dream than to punch her way out of oblivion.
The struggle of a woman through the not-so-encouraging setup of the Indian Boxing Association, the hardships of family and motherhood and the wrath of a protective and concerned father is depicted to perfection by one of the marvels of Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra. PC has over the past few years proven her mettle and the most versatile actor India has ever produced. She puts herself far behind the character and very seldom do we see the real Priyanka during a performance. In Mary Kom she successfully reinvents herself and makes us believe that we are seeing the boxer and not the actor.
All in all the story, cinematography, dialog and acting are all high quality and deserve a viewing and appreciation. I recommend it strongly.

Movie Review: Game (2010)
Article first published as Movie Review: Game (2010) on Blogcritics.
Bollywood's ambition of successfully making a murder thriller has very seldom matured into a watchable film. Unlike rom-coms like Band Baaja Baraat, thrillers don't fare too well with the audience. The main reason behind the incapability of Indian cinema as far as thrillers are concerned is the copied script/story that is often borrowed from a Hollywood flick. What happens is that film-makers borrow a story from Hollywood but do not have the budget or the technical expertise to carry the film forward. Another issue is the limited number of stars available to the film-makers and their reluctance in casting anyone who is not a popular star!
"Game" suffers with the later more than the former. As far as the script is concerned, the film has a very jumbled up story that is good in parts but unbelievably poor in others. It is very patchy with a feeling that many individual parts of the story were forcefully attached together to make a whole.
"Game" is a story about a man Kabir Malhotra (Anupam Kher) whose illegitimate daughter is killed in her early 20s. He collects evidence against the people who he blames for her death and calls them deceptively at his personal Island only to hand them over to international police. The people he invites are, OP Ramsay (Presidential Candidate of Thailand) (Boman Irani), Neil Menon (Drug Dealer) (Abhishek Bachchan), Tisha Khanna (The twin sister of his dead daughter) (Shahana Goswami) and Vikram Kapoor (A film actor) (Jimmy Shergil). After he has told them their contributions in the death of his daughter and that they will be handed to the police with the file that has evidence against them, Kabir Malhotra apparently commits suicide by shooting himself in the temple leaving all four of his guests as suspects for murder!
When Inspector Sia Agnihotri (Kangna Ranaut) comes to take the evidence and the four guests as requested by Kabir, she in turn finds Kabir dead and her intelligent investigation soon reveals that Kabir did not kill himself but was murdered.
"Game" is a search for Kabir Malhotra's murderer and what happens next is better seen than narrated, so I won't spoil it for you.
The cast has failed to impress, with Abhishek doing what he does best i.e playing a slick, stylish role and Jimmy Shergil doing what he does best i.e miserably failing to impress! The worst performance, however, was Kangna Ranaut's and that may be due to the inappropriate casting more than anything else. For a girl who is not comfortable speaking English, to be given a character that speaks more English than Hindi, is unfair and extremely senseless. All in all the acting was below par.
The film's overall impression is below average, with stale action sequences, poor dialogs (unlike Farhan Akthar) and mediocre acting (despite some heavy names). I give it a meager 2.5/5 and you can skip it if you have better things to do!

Robot (2010) [Bollywood] Review
Article first published as Review: Robot (2010) [Bollywood] on Technorati.

Movie: Robot (2010)
Cast: Rajni kanth, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Rating: 4.5/5
It is very seldom that one is totally blown away by the action sequences and special effects in a Bollywood flick but Super star Rajni's Robot is an exception. It is the most expensive film ever made in the history of the Indian film industry.

Robot is the story of Chitti (Rajni Kanth) a humanoid-android made by a genius scientist Vasee (Rajni Kanth). Chitti is a unique Robot in that it can learn and execute humanly possible tasks but initially is rejected by the Artificial Intelligence Authorities because of its inabilities to differentiate between right and wrong. Trying to solve the problem Vasee gives Chitti the ability to feel and therein lies the biggest problem. Chitti falls in love with Vasee's fiancée Sana (Aishwarya Rai). When Vasee finds out he dismantles Chitti and garbages him only for him to get in the hands of Vasee's rival and mentor Prof. Bora. Bora makes Chitti into a demon by giving him an extra chip. What follows is a roller coaster battle between a creator and his most prized creation.

The acting by Rajni and Aishwarya has been outstanding. Aishwarya has looked the prettiest in a long long time and every glimpse of her in the film is a pleasure to watch. She looks like an object so attractive that a Robot can grow feelings for. Rajini as Chitti is outstanding with a Robot like expressionless face and digital movements.

What is most impressive in this Sci-fi flick is the quality of special effects. It puts films like Iron man 2 to shame with the formations that Chitti takes. One particular scene with the giant serpent is absolutely amazing! The look of the film is slick and sharp and parallels any Hollywood movie.

Patiala House (2011) Review
Movie: Patiala House
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Hard Kaur
Rating: 3.5/5
Cricket Junoon is running wild the world over. India and Pakistan are two countries that eat, drink and breathe cricket and with the Cricket World Cup 2011 being hosted by India, for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh the heat is on as far as cricket craze is concerned.
Amongst the excitement of the mega event of cricket comes a film that celebrates cricket and glorifies its charm and peoples' love for it. It is a film that shows the importance of family, the passion for cricket and a man's endeavor to live his life-long dream.
Parghat Singh Kahlon aka Gattu (Akshay Kumar) belongs to a cricket crazy Sikh family, the Patiala House, who had moved to England years ago. His father Gurtej Kahlon (Rishi Kapoor) is a cricket fanatic but also harbors great hatred for Englishmen following his elder brother's murder decades ago on the basis of racism. When Gattu gets selected for the English line-up in his teens his father stops him from playing saying that he would die if his son plays for the Goras (English). Gattu buries his dream in obedience of his father setting an example for the others to follow. No one in Patiala House could dare to even dream against Gurtej Kahlon and if they even spoke up they were asked to follow Gattu's footsteps. Gattu was hated by all and no one saw his frustration and sacrifice.
When the English team faces a lack of a genuine fast bowler for the upcoming T-20 Championships, they consider Gattu on the recommendation of one of the selectors Mr. Bedi. Gattu at 34 is still quick and accurate and forced by the members of Patiala House he accepts a place in the English team. Will Gattu play for England? Will he be successful? Will the family be able to hide Gattu's selection and the fact that he is playing for England fron Gurtej Kahlon? Will Gurtej accept his son as England's fast bowler? Will the Patiala House be free to dream and fulfill their dreams? You have to watch the movie to get answers for these questions. I would recommend all cricket fans to go see it.
Akshay Kumar has acted well and Rishi Kapoor has given a memorable performance as well. Anushka Sharma is charming and refreshing. Her great talent and awesome body makes for a delightful view. She surely is the next big thing in Bollywood.

My Name Is Khan - A Review
The Karan Jauhar / Shahrukh Khan production " My name is khan" is a film that has defined a new kind of cinema in the sub-continent. In a film industry plagued by remakes of hollywood films like Teen Patti (21), Stranger ( Man on fire), Gajini ( momento), Qayamat ( The rock) and amongst an audience that loves to see the lavish love story themes comes a film that speaks the truth and nothing but.
The greatest thing notable in this film is the pride that the protagonist holds in the ownership of his religion inspite of the taboo that surrounds it. The incapability of "Khan" to feel subtle emotions renders him the strength to say what he sees without any inhibition.
Shahrukh Khan seems to have found a lost connection with his religion and it exudes from every expression that he gives in the film. He seems as proud to be a muslim as "Khan" does.
The film also gives an underlying feeling that however secular India maybe the prejudice that muslims have faced after 9/11 has also been transmitted in the muslim society in India. The frustration in the dialogue " My name is khan and I am not a terrorist" seem mutual to the character and the performer.
Hats of to the legend Shahrukh Khan on giving his best performance and on rendering a service to the cause of Islam. This is true Jihad, where an image of Islam is presented its values are upheld.
May Allah bless Khan and may he be saved from the evil of "terrorists" like the Shiv Sena.

Band Baaja Baraat - A Review
No matter which part of the world you’re in, a Desi wedding is always filled with glitz and glamour. Band Baaja Baraat is all about the colors of a subcontinental marriage. With Anushka Sharma and newbie Ranveer Singh as lead actors, you can be sure you are going to have freshness filling the screens!
Shruti Kakkar (Anushka Sharma) is your typical Delhi no nonsense girl who is dead keen on becoming India’s best wedding planner. In fact, she has her business set out for her and intends to pursue "Shaadi Mubarak" as soon as her exams are finished. Bittoo Sharma (Ranveer Singh). Ambitionless, Bittoo finds himself running out of reasons to head home to his father’s farm and thus, after a small wedding-crasher encounter with Shruti convinces her to let him join in on the wedding planning business. What happens next is your everyday love story. To give away more than that would ruin the experience; so go buy a ticket!
Band Baaja Baraat gives you the festive feeling. It is incredibly entertaining. You are sucked into a world of incredible weddings and witness the innate planning it takes to be a wedding planner. As a director, Maneesh Sharma does well to bring the theme of weddings and even the aura of Delhi to the forefront. Of course, you can pretty much guess post the interval where the film is headed and so it comes as no surprise leading up to the climax but even then, it manages to entertain. What helps the film is the great music by Salim-Sulaiman. Each and every song is fabulous to listen and a treat to watch simply because they look and seem so natural.
Should you watch Band Baaja Baraat? For sure! Don’t expect groundbreaking cinema here, you won’t get it. But you do walk out feeling happy and refreshed.

No Problem (2010) - Bollywood
Movie: No Problem
Genre: Comedy
Director: Anees Bazmi
Director: Anees Bazmi
Cast: Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Sen, Shakti Kapoor, Sunil Shetty
Rating: 4/5
If one thought that Golmaal 3 was the epitome of laughter and could not be surpassed then No Problem has proven him wrong. The film is a laughter bomb. The roars in the cinema are deafening and the tears that run down one's cheeks as a result of uncontrollable giggles are a testament to the movie's comic greatness.
Given the cast of the film the expectations were sky high. Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Akshay Khanna, Sunil Shetty and Sushmita Sen provide a heavy star cast. When one steps into the theater he is already expecting an entertainment bonanza, but No Problem takes the fun factor to a all new level. To be released so close to a Golmaal 3 and yet be so funny is an achievement in its own right.
The story is tried and tested in films like Aik aur Aik Gyaara where a couple of crooks get into a bigger mess than they can handle. The punches however are amazingly crafted and make the audience cramp in the tummy. The situational comedy is extremely well put and the use of words is exceptional. The dialogs are spontaneous and generic and give the film a repeat value in that you can watch it over and over again and still laugh each time - much like the Govinda starrers of the past.
The music however, was ordinary to say the least and so apart from "Shakira to wi zyada" no song has any potential. Even "shakira" has just one catchy punchline and nothing more. So I wont say much about the music because I really wanna give no problem a 10/10!
No Problem has the quality of being a legendary film. The movie has the potential to be remembered as one of the funniest indian movies of all time!
