Julia 2014 Film Review

Julia (2014) on IMDb

Julia’s journey of seeking revenge for her brutal rape.
Director: Matthew A. Brown
Running time: 95 minutes
Screenplay: Matthew A. Brown
Music composed by: Frank Hall
Cast: Ashley C. Williams, TahynaTozzi, Jack Noseworthy, Joel de la Fuente, Cary Woodworth

The film Julia 2014 revolves around a girl who is brutally raped and then seeks revenge by practicing an unacceptable form of therapy to restore herself. Ashley C. Williams plays Julia beautifully. She is a nurse. She is raped by her date and his friends after being drugged. Dumped somewhere by the water for the tides to take her, she still manages to get back to her home. The rape results in depression and drinking on a daily basis at a local bar.

At the bar, Julia overhears a discussion about some new empowered therapy for rape victims. She then falls prey to this unacceptable therapy conducted by Dr. Sgundud, played by Jack Noseworthy. The therapy is based on some terms and conditions. One of the main terms that Dr, Sgundud put forth her is that she is not allowed to take revenge from the people who raped her. She seeks her revenge against men by acts of violence upon random victims.

Julia is a bold and powerful movie. Ashley C.William’s performance is the film’s strongest point. Phenomenal throughout the movie, Ashley did justice to her part. Overall the movie is powerful and raises questions about the rape culture. Julia is a very loud movie with very little dialogues. The movie is visually arresting, unique and worth a watch.

Julia 2014 Film Rating: 6/10

Let Me In 2010 Review

Article first published as Review: Let Me In ( 2010) on Technorati.

Movie: Let Me In (2010) on DVD/Blu-Ray
Cast: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins
Rating: 4/5

One of the best remakes I have ever seen is the vampire tale presented in Let Me In. A remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One In (2008)Let Me In tells the story of a vampire girl who is twelve years old and has the innocence of a child.

She, however, can only survive on fresh blood and turns into a horrible monster as she smells or sees blood near by. This is a story of a vampire who befriends a human boy and discovers a streak of humanity in her savageness.
It is a story of a lone boy who finds humans to be more savage than a vampire in their way of discrimination and abuse. This is a love story of two twelve-year-olds with extremely contrasting natures, yet strikingly similar loneliness.
Abby (Chloe Moritz) is a vampire who has been twelve for hundreds of years. She moves into a new neighborhood in the house next to Owen (Kodi Smit), a troubled and bullied naive boy who is pushed around by his fellows at the school. They hesitantly become friends and a story that has many beautiful contrasts — coldness vs. warmth, chaos vs. peace, guilt vs. innocence, darkness vs. delicacy, and despair vs. hope — follows. To say more about the film would give away a lot, and so I am all hush hush!
Chloe and Kodi have acted brilliantly and are perhaps the best child artists in Hollywood. I honestly believe that Let Me In is one of the greatest American remakes of all time.

Art of the Devil 2 - Review

I am a big fan of sick horror flicks and gory thrillers. With Hannibal Lector as my favorite on-screen character (played to perfection by his highness Anthony Hopkins) and the likes of Saw and Hostel a constant feature of my collection, I have had my fare share of SCARE! But believe you me, the film I'm gonna review for you today is SICK!
Its called "The Art of the Devil 2". It is the second edition of the Thai trilogy and it is one not recommended for the weak of heart or stomach. The film is based on Black Magic and how it stays with the ones who initiate it. It is scary, creepy and has a great flowing storyline. It grips the audience and compels them to see it in one go. The detail to GORE is amazing and gives you a walkthrough on basic human anatomy :P
The cast is young, sexy and fresh. They have acted well and have complemented the theme to perfection. The movie could potentially have more sizzle as far as skin show is concerned, the only major skin show that we get in the movie is unfortunate with the skin not intact on the body!!

All in all it is a film you could put dares on to watch in the dark alone! It is horrific and at times gut wrenching. Give it a watch and judge for yourself, because I dont want to be a spoiler!
