I am a big fan of I spit on your grave and Revenge is a little gem from the same genre. As the name suggests it is based on vengeance. A mistress of a wealthy man, wrong-done and raped by his friends, gets back at them in a manner punctuated with gore and fury. If you have issues with gore, torture, blood, open wounds and full frontal nudity, then this might not be your piece of cake. It is however, directed, written and paced beautifully and is a very taut and visually pleasing piece of cinema.

Matilda Anna acts aptly as the leading lady and looks hot as well. Kevin Janssens is strong, ruthless and at times too naked :D. 

For parents, this movie has a suggestive rape situation and at least 15 minutes of full frontal nudity which is graphic and not suitable for children under the age of 16 in my humble opinion.

All in all, a movie worth your time and with a comfortable 108 minutes, it isn't even too long. Enjoy!

The film portrays the story of two imprisoned men (Robbins as Andy Dufresne & Freeman as Ellis ``Red`` Redding) bond over a number of years, finding comfort and eventual repossession through acts of common decency. Andy Dufresne a banker by profession is wrongfully sentenced to severe two lifelong incarcerations for killing his wife and her lover. While trying to establish his place in the jail Andy finds solace in the friendship he forms with fellow inmate, Ellis ``Red`` and gets a prison job complimenting his talent as a banker. Red goes through three appeals and in the third appeal he gets a release. Overtime Andy finds ways to live out life with relative ease as one can in a prison, leaving a message for all of us that while the body may be locked away in a cell, the spirit can never be truly imprisoned. The movie writer very smartly shows the several aspects of life in a prison.

It’s truly a motivational story as it never fails to make you feel better in darkest moments of life and The Shawshank Redemption uplifts you in ways that you can’t find in movies today.

Growing up, I played a ton of soccer and even wanted to be a professional soccer player. But I always loved stories. I loved to read, I loved movies, and when I started doing drama in school I realized that acting meant more to me than playing soccer, or anything else and I began to pursue it. It is definitely not an easy industry. It takes hard work and dedication. It's a continuous learning curve and it's very important to remember the artistry of being an actor as opposed to the 'business' side of the industry. I love working on projects I really believe in such as Goddess of Love and hopefully through continuing to work on projects that inspire me my 'big break' will follow.

Thank you! Initially, I discovered acting through theater -- my first lead role was Sandy in the musical “Grease” in high school. In an intro cinema class in college, I was awestruck by the film “Red” by Kieślowski.

Immediately I changed my major to Drama and French. Afterwards, I spent a year in Paris, then on to Atlanta where I started working in theater, commercials, television, and independent films. That’s when I decided to make the move to Los Angeles.

Thank you!! I hold The Shift very close to my heart first and foremost for the wonderful experience I had while shooting with the cast and crew. Secondly, because it touches a very delicate issue in the world today which concerns death with dignity and patients right. l play the role of Carmen, a young mother whose distraught over her little girl dying of cancer. It's heart wrenching.

I've been involved in the arts since the tender age of 5 at some capacity. Singing, dancing and acting. My two older brothers couldn't shut me up,hahahaha! That little girl still lives in me today and I love it!

Wolves (2014) is a well-made horror/thriller that shows the coming-of-age story of a werewolf who has no idea of his being one. Cayden Richards in fact discovers his identity as a wolf during a make out session with his girlfriend and eventually finds himself in a pool of blood of his own parents. He flees off to a small town prompted by a fellow wolf called wild Joe. What follows is an extremely interesting story of revenge and love and horror and thrill.

Wolves (2014) is a very well made movie with reasonable graphics and good acting. The wildness of the creatures is quite attractive and provides a mystic feel to the whole story. The passionate physicality of the leads is a strong visual experience. The anger and ferociousness of the werewolves is also a very appealing facet of the movie. 

Jason Mamoa is powerful and dark. Lucas Till does an above par job playing the lead. He is charming and intimidating at the same time. The female lead Merritt Patterson is very pretty and also has great screen presence, She seems to be the one to watch out for in the future.

All in all a good watch.

Ouija (2014) is a horror flick that centers around two friends who used to play with a Ouija board when they were young girls and thought that it was just harmless fun only for one of them to discover its real power and die in the process. The other friend then calls upon some of her close friends to find out what happened to the deceased girl. They discover the evil powers of the board and have to fight them in order to survive.

The movie combines the mystery of the magical board and the horrors of possession. It is a great mix of youthful friendship and the fight against evil and has some great scares. The atmosphere of the movie is eerie and creepy and the presence of the board is unsettling. The way the board possesses its victims is very well done.

Olivia Cooke, Ana Coto and Daren Kagasoff have all acted well and at no stage does one feel the need for better acting or the lack of portrayal.

The movie is a great addition to the animated movies genre and the concept and story is very promising. The formula maybe tried and tested but the treatment looks fresh and gives the audiences great entertainment.

Plot: An officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with the alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer to defeating the enemy.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014) is the latest Tom Cruise movie to have hit the audiences. The movie is a sci-fi, drama, thriller that revolves around a love story between two officers who are fighting a war against the alien race. Allied forces officer Cage finds himself trapped in a time loop aster being splattered with alien blood and soon figures that he is not the only one to have experienced the loop. He soon finds Rita a celebrity warrior who has gone through the loop previously only to have an accident take it away from her. What follows, is a constant effort that Cage makes to win a war he cannot possibly lose if he maintains the loop against an enemy that is already using the loop to slowly drain down and defeat the human race. Cage's motive however is more governed by somehow cheating Rita's death which seems inevitable in the process.

Tom Cruise and Emily blunt have put in good performances and the acting overall has been a strong asset of the film. The idea of the film is also interesting and has a lot of margin for acting and storytelling. To me, however the loop has not been tackled too well by the storytellers and the director. The movie seems to be too occupied with repeating the cycle and hence each cycle does not offer too many moments to keep the audience involved. The looping demanded subtlety which the directors failed to achieve. I would have liked lesser loops shown in the movie with each one providing more thrills and a greater junk of storytelling.

The production values are top notch. The aliens are well crafted and the look of the film is slick. The treatment does complete justice to the huge star cast and on those grounds the movie delivers because the audiences are surely bound to be impressed by what they see on the screens. It is equally enjoyable on DVD and in the cinema.

If you are a Sci-Fi fan or for that matter a Tom Cruise fanatic this is a must watch. The movie is good, could have been legendary, but it definitely ranks among the year's to-watch list.

Wer (2014) is a horror movie about a man who is suspected to have murdered several people brutally. His defense attorney is initially in complete denial of him being capable of killing at all. The murders are deemed incapable of a human beings attack and the bodies found are severely mutilated as if they were fed upon. To the horrors of the attorney and a few doctors it is soon found that the suspect is in fact suffering from some sort of a disease that makes him possess superhuman physical powers and agility. Could it be true that he turned into a werewolf every night or is it another kind of syndrome. You should see it to find out.

Sebastian Roche' was very convincing as the killing machine in this horror flick. He gave a mean performance as both the innocent, quiet, abnormal son of an old woman and the monster that was hidden beneath that innocence. A.J Cook looked hot and her acting was also very accomplished and convincing. Vik Sahay gave a good solid performance and held his own in a side role that demanded a seasoned performance.

All in all Wer is a scary and thought provoking horror film that is slightly unique in its treatment of the man-monster genre.

If you are looking for some plain old high school romance, look no further. The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks, is just the thing. For those of you who have had the chance to see any other Nicholas film, the plot is predictable. Two high school love birds, torn apart by fate, are brought together after a time stretch of twenty years, again by fate to fall in love all over again. 

Directed by Michael Hoffman, The Best of Me stars Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato for the young couple and James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan for the latter. In all honesty, the plot of this film didn't particularly intrigue me to look forward to it which is why I won’t say it’s a must try. But having said that, after coming across movies like The Notebook and Safe Haven, again from the same guy, which undeniably did leave some impact on the audience, I would recommend you guys to give this obvious yet sweet romance a go. May be you will like it after all. Or may be you don’t, If nothing else, you sure will have some of those cliched "aww" moments.

Horns (2014) is a breakthrough movie for Daniel Radcliffe after he has broken out of the shadow of his Harry Potter image. Horns (2014) takes you through the life of a young man accused of his girlfriend's murder. He gets frustrated and turns against God and as a result horns appear on his head. The presence of these horns causes people around him to blurt out their deepest, darkest, meanest thoughts and that brings humor and darkness to the whole movie.

The language of Horns (2014) is definitely not everyone's cup of tea and is especially not safe for kids. The fact that the horns bring out emotions like anger, lust and deceit causes characters to act is obscene ways and many may be offended by certain scenes in the movie.

Daniel Radcliffe looks good for the first time in a long time. He has worked on his looks and body and might have gone under the knife and hit the gym. His acting skills are obviously high quality and he can hold a film on hos own. Juno Temple is angelic and acts well like always. Heather Graham looks pretty and does a funny cameo. A special mention for Sabrina Carpenter who looked awesomely pretty and is an actor to look out for in the future and also Kelli Garner who was funny and depressive at the same time. One person who takes the lead as far as acting is concerned is Max Minghella. He acts superbly as the deceptive antagonist of the movie. I was really impressed by his mature performance.

The production value, direction, script and dialog is all at par and the overall verdict for Horns (2014) is that it is an entertainer and is recommended for mature audiences. I will urge people to watch this clever movie which has some though provoking content.

It is amazing to see that an 8 minute short movie can have such an impact on the viewer. I was amazed at the concept, the story and the way it was shot. The dialog was a treat to hear and was haunting and thought provoking. The end could have been scarier but the author chose a philosophical closing rather than a conventional terrifying ending.

The shrieks are definitely fear inducing and cause the viewer to get an instance shock. Emmett Lee Stang has acted well and looks convincing.

For a short The Devil's Snare is powerful and dark. Two thumbs up to Jennifer Nicole Stang.

Stretch (2014) Plot:  A hard-luck limo driver struggling to go straight and pay off a debt to his bookie takes on a job with a crazed passenger whose sought-after ledger implicates some seriously dangerous criminals.

Stretch (2014) is a fast paced action thriller with a reasonable entertainment value and passable production value. Although the story is not fresh and emulates a tried formula, the characterization and acting makes it quite watchable.

Stretch is based on a night's work of a Stretch, a limo driver who is under a huge debt and aspires to pay it off through a prospective tip by an unstable customer. As the night goes on Stretch finds himself getting involved in a deep and twisted scenario involving crime and law enforcement agencies.

The cast does a good job in entertaining the audience and lifting the movie from ordinary to pleasurable. Chris Pine plays a good part and is at times magnificent as the crazed, yet dangerous customer. Ed Helms brings a mysterious dark element to the whole storytelling as a dead limo driver who is an imaginary friend to Stretch. Jessica Alba has a cameo that does add value to the project. Patrick Wilson as Stretch fits the part as he looks like your average loser. He has also acted well. Guest appearances by David Hasslehof and Ray Liotta definitely bring some added value and some needed humor to the mix and all in all the cast out does the script and lifts the whole movie.

On the whole Stretch is entertaining and is a good flick if you want to enjoy a movie without thinking too much.

The Scribbler (2014) is a well-made psychological thriller that aims to tackle a very complex topic of multiple personality disorder. With movies like Fight Club and Primal Fear achieving greatness through the proper exploitation of this topic, it remains no secret that with a mildly well-managed story surrounding multiple personality and an apt actor playing the lead The Scribbler stands a fair chance at creating an impression. The movie to be fair is not at all outstanding, but still has an entertainment value that ensures that audiences do not lose interest.

The cast showcases a reasonable amount of fire in the form of Katie Cassidy, Eliza Dushku and Sasha Grey. The actors, especially Katie Cassidy, have done justice to the plot to their best abilities. What lacks, maybe, is an attractive or popular male actor who could attract some female attention and bring some class to the entire project.

Multiple Personality Disorder is an interesting subject in its own and the sound of it renders a mystery to the movie that is bound to catch audiences. The Scribbler does a decent job of not sapping that down. It is however, a little far-fetched, dwelling too much into mutation and metaphysics that staying in the domain of psychology.

All in all people should give it a try, although it might not be everyone's cuppa tea.

Disney Khoobsurat is a remake of an old Bollywood flick by the same name that starred Rekha and Ashok Kumar. The 2014 version however stars the newest heartthrob of the subcontinent Fawad Khan alongside Sonam Kapoor and the duo create some Disney style magic on screen.

A true Disney Tale, Khoobsurat is set in a royal environment of the Rathor family with grand locations and palaces. The Royal family is very aptly cast and the characterization of both Fawad and Sonam is flawless.

Fawad Khan looks the part as the enigmatic prince charming who personifies class and stature and is also exceptionally good looking. Fawad's undeniable looks have once again made him capture the audience through the entire screen time that he was provided by the script. His role is very well played and written and he looks very very attractive and leaves a lasting impression with his soft yet powerful performance.

Sonam, I thought contrary to popular belief, has really produced the best performance of her career thus far. She brought out the craziness that Milli possesses in a way that was the demand of the script. Her role makes the distinction of Royalty and a misfit perfectly clear and also brings laughter and freshness to every scene that she is in. Apart from the performance itself, it must be said that casting Sonam for this role or writing such a role for Sonam was an amazing decision because Sonam herself is known for being erratic with what she says and does and most of what she says makes very little sense. I thought that Sonam Kapoor's performance in Khoobsurat was outstanding and could even be award worthy. A special note of appreciation should go to the dress designer for Sonam who contributed heavily to the character of Milli and brought the real Milli alive. 

Kiron Kher as Manju was exceptional and hilarious in Khoobsurat and lifted the entire movie to a different level of comedy. The spontaneous dialog delivery from Kiron made this a role worth remembering for times to come.

Disney Khoobsurat is not only a sweet comedy but also a very well made movie with strong script and characters. It is an entertainer worth watching with the family.

Dukhtar 2014 Movie Review and Trailer

DUKHTAR Theatrical Trailer - Pakistan's First Road Trip Thriller Movie by The Crew Films

The new Pakistani movie Dukhtar was a good experience overall with the story and presentation up to the mark. The hype however was much exaggerated than what was on offer.

When it comes to Pakistani cinema of the recent past I have a slight problem with what it represents. Titles like khuda ke liye, bol and now Dukhtar highlight the problems that women face in our country and are sensitive works of art. They however are the only notable works of cinema from our country apart from the recently acclaimed waar which was a proud Pakistani production. What this does is, sending a wrong message to the west that Pakistan is an unsafe country for women and that all people of the country are insensitive and uncultured with all women oppressed and clad in Burkas.

The fact is that we have a night life in Karachi and Lahore and our kids are world toppers in O and A levels. We have sporting legends bigger than Mary Kom who deserve a film made on their life. We have youth that is humorous and can be the subject of a fresh comedy. All these subjects need equal attention. 

We are presenting the west with stories that relate to the element we are at war with. We should present it with stories that show the enlightened youth of this country.

As far as the movie is concerned Mohib Mirza and the rest of the cast have done a great job and the movie deserves a watch and all the appreciation. It is high time however that we make movies that provide entertainment and present us as an educated and intellectual nation that like all nations has its gray shades.

Chef is literally a one man show by Jon Favreau, who sparkles as a writer, director and actor in this wonderful tale of self discovery of a Chef who chooses satisfaction over tradition when it comes to cooking a meal for his customers and critics.

Carl Casper is a Chef at a popular restaurant in L.A and is in a dilemma when he realizes that creativity and business might not be great partners when it comes to serving food at an eatery. Sparked by a review from a renowned critic Carl embarks on a self discovering journey leading him to pursue his ambition of serving people with food that represents him.

The movie is very touching and deals with relationships, family and pride beautifully. It is also a visual and culinary treat and makes one want to cook and eat.

Jon Favreau has rediscovered himself in this low budget project after his association with the high profiled Iron man franchise. Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. have also played their part in bringing the story forward as an enjoyable and very warm experience. Highly recommended.

The struggle of a woman through the not-so-encouraging setup of the Indian Boxing Association, the hardships of family and motherhood and the wrath of a protective and concerned father is depicted to perfection by one of the marvels of Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra. PC has over the past few years proven her mettle and the most versatile actor India has ever produced. She puts herself far behind the character and very seldom do we see the real Priyanka during a performance. In Mary Kom she successfully reinvents herself and makes us believe that we are seeing the boxer and not the actor.

All in all the story, cinematography, dialog and acting are all high quality and deserve a viewing and appreciation. I recommend it strongly.
